Driver Licensing Procedures
- To get Business License you will have to:
- Go to City Treasurers Office,
- 1200 Third Avenue at Civic Center Plaza ( 3rd and B )
- Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday
- Telephone: (619) 615-1500
Pay $76.00* to “CITY TREASURER” Cash and Checks ONLY
- To get Operators Permit,
- Two recent Passport photos ( 2” x 2” only )
- Few different locations around the downtown area. Try the one by the Bus Station at 1st and Broadway.
- Go to San Diego Transportation Department
- 1010 Second Avenue, Suite 800, East Tower, 8th Floor.
Hours: 8:00 – 11:30 am & 1:00 – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

- You must show the following documents:
- Proof of age: Must be at least 18 years old
- San Diego Business License
- Two passport photos
- Pay $40.00* by check or cash in exact change
- Present valid California Driver’s License
- Foreign drivers/riders need J-1 stamp on passport to get business license/pedicab license
